A Muse, Me?

What is a Muse, exactly? The breath of fresh air that sets passions ablaze. The inspiration that brings Life to the Creator. Some might say She, the Muse, is the source of the Artist's energy. Naturally, the Muse and the Artist will  challenge one another. So how might each person improve to mold the next masterpiece? The Artist hones His talent, practicing with a number of tools and techniques. To be realistic though, the Muse doesn't actually have to do Anything - Does She? It may be easier said than done, but it requires trust & agreeability. They say, "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder.” The Muse brings that spark to the Creator - She models and He creates a representation of Her.

People have referred to Me as Kai's Muse as they have seen us grow over the years. We have some unspoken chemistry that's so effective, it's allowed us to collaborate for this long. Sometimes, I'll hear people say, "It must be nice to have someone shoot so many photographs of you." There are times when I'll look at the images and I can't stand the sight of myself, with my flaws as they are. I don't know if anyone would really understand this, though it may suggest my self-esteem more than anything. We're led to believe that Artists choose their Muses, for collaborative efforts. I don't know how one Muse, possibly beyond their prime, can benefit the Artist other than simply existing - The Creator must see an unlocked potential to request someone's presence so frequently.

The rest of the world is subject to viewing the highlights, the favorites, the "best-of" series. While all of this sounds flattering, it's necessary to remind readers that it's merely a portion of the whole. In actuality, the Artist sees all sides of the Muse, as does She: the Good, the Bad, the Ugly - Light does not exist without Darkness, after all. There are many times when an Artist will undergo trial & error, revisions and more often than desired, omission. How do they do it? When you've managed to work together for so long, How could you separate one from the other? Sometimes, you wish the answers were easier than the questions. This one remains a mystery to me.

There's so much left on the cutting floor than what's allowed to be seen, the possibility that we repress more than we want to reveal. No wonder it's so easy to fall in love with an Artist and the Muse ... I mean, they make the process look natural, don't you think?
