Poetry - Time out Elsewhere

Caught up in a moment, Once
He realized: Life is Amazing!
the Best time spent Living-
What’s that slice Worth?

Fear interrupted Flow of Light,
Separating Heart from Sight.
Believe me, I tried to tell him-
Nay, my Voice was Denied!

Refusing to face Facts,
Moving backwards; He retracts.
“Come to the Present, Please.
Trust Me and You might seize

All that you seek, Before you.”
Unable to move Beyond this,
By far his Greatest Weakness.
How does he expect to Grow?”

Should he Return to Reality
and see all that's changed-
Discover answers and Unlock
Truth- As if it were ever Lost.

Pray the Message finds him-
Awaken a deaf, blind man.
Suspended during a Time
when overwhelmed by Emotion.

Maybe you know someone who is obsessed with a specific moment in time, you rarely (or never) see them move away from it. As much as you want to engage them in the present, they may have convinced themselves that their era is the only one worth existing in. It might be something as silly as romanticizing “retro“ aesthetics - Or it could be emotionally motivated, by their personal experiences. When people get tied up in their moments, they may forget that life goes on and the world is transforming around them. As much as I dislike stagnation, I relate deeply: Having to live in the Present, not allowing ourselves see past certain incidents. Trapped within the intensity of a moment.
