Poetry - Essential Reversal

In their Embrace,
She sighs to herself.
As she exits solace
She says, "My time is up."

Marked above her cheek,
a bruise that doesn't ache.
She didn't expect Him
to give a little taste.

Temptation comes easily
in times of uncertainty.
Refraining from quality,
How does one Resist?

Barriers are built
to reinforce Guilt
behind all Pleasures,
so We Stop ourselves.

Do we live as we like?
Perhaps someone feeds us lines.
something important is Missing;
the Mind refuses to identify.

She recalls this dream
long after their encounter-
a curious surface raises
more questions than answers.

Maybe we fall hardest for those who give us the purest things - love, affection, a tender heart and hands to hold. Perhaps we're so emotionally disconnected from others, we fool ourselves in momentary bliss. There’s even a desire to reciprocate, but at what cost? Remember: if it makes you Happy, time is never lost. What is it about this fantasy that makes it a Guilty Pleasure? Imagine unlocking an old safe-door - once you've opened it, would you reseal it? Could you resist the hidden treasures?

This episode left me restless, wondering if I deserve happiness like that. I have this horrible habit of cutting myself short of all good things coming. It's always in my thoughts, "This is too good to be true, I'm not worth it." When confronted by my conscience, I realize it's time to wake up. Sometimes we walk slowly, so cautiously, we struggle to process acts of kindness and admiration. It’s incredibly challenging to move forward when we hesitate on our desires - an Essential Reversal.
